Biography

Dr. Leyerzapf earned her bachelor's degree, master's degree, and doctorate from KU in communication studies. As a rhetorical scholar, her interests lie in the stories we tell to understand ourselves and our collective history. Her dissertation explored the use of frontier themes in civilian space program advocacy during the Eisenhower and Kennedy administrations. (Yes, a study of “space — the final frontier.") She is passionate about the scholarship of teaching and learning, serving as a CTE Faculty Fellow, teaching courses on adult learning, and consulting with the Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance to design leadership training programs for corrections supervisors.
