Biography —
Chris Beard is a paleontologist whose research investigates the early evolution of primates and other mammals. He led the expeditions that discovered pivotal fossils of Eosimias in China, which at 45 million years old remains the oldest and most primitive anthropoid primate (close relative of living monkeys, apes and humans) currently known. Beard holds a Ph.D. in functional anatomy and evolution from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore. His international fieldwork has taken him to China, Myanmar, Libya, Turkey, and other countries. He is a proud season-ticket holder for Jayhawks basketball.
