Milena Stanislavova

Patrick Malone Faculty Fellow, University Honors Program
Professor, Mathematics
Primary office:

Dr. Milena Stanislavova earned her doctorate in Mathematics from the University of Missouri, Columbia.  She is a professor in the departments Mathematics and Economics.  She has served as Director of Graduate Study and Chair of the Economics department.  Dr. Stanislavova's research interests include:

  • Partial Differential Equations: Stability of Waves, Nonlinear Wave Equations
  • Dynamical Systems: Invariant Manifolds, Hamiltonian Systems, Control
  • Analysis: Semigroups of Linear Operators, Spectral Mapping Theorems

Dr. Stanislavova has jointly published several papers recently exploring the ground states of the nonlinear Schrodinger and Klein-Gordon equations.   In these papers, she considers standing wave solutions of various dispersive models with non-standard form of the dispersion terms. By using index count calculations, together with the information from a variational construction, she develops sharp conditions for spectral stability of these waves.

Dr. Stanislavova joined the Honors team as a faculty fellow in the fall semester of 2020.
