ELE || Public Service Enhancement
This ELE enables students to gain self-awareness and experience with social responsibility through service to others. Students may complete this ELE with sustained public service to any (or several) philanthropic organization or service effort involving 45+ documented volunteer hours. Students may also combine service sites and programs to add up to 45+ documented hours. Examples include:
- Completing a validated service experience, such as Alternative Breaks, Engineers Without Borders, or with the Center for Community Outreach
- Assuming a service role in a campus unit, such as becoming an Honors Ambassador, or Honors First Year Seminar Assistant
- Making a significant contribution to a unit or organization by creating a new service-oriented program or a new initiative
- Completing the Service Learning Certificate
Reflection Question: This reflection consists of three parts: For the first paragraph, please summarize concisely what you did and the activity(ies) time commitment(s). Next, explain the ways in which this experience prepared you to be an engaged and responsible citizen. Finally, tie your experience back to your education: how has this experience shaped your learning?
Note: In order to maintain relevance and significance, your reflection should be submitted within one semester of the completion of the ELE.
