C. Bryan Young

Associate Professor, Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering
Primary office:
Nunemaker Center

I’m a Lawrence native and KU Honors alumnus. I majored in German and Civil & Environmental Engineering while at KU. Afterward, I earned a MS in Water Resources Engineering from KU and a Ph.D in Civil & Environmental Engineering from the University of Iowa. I love my work, but I also enjoy soccer, fencing, sailing, paddling, and building stuff.

What I Do at Honors

As Director of the University Honors Program, I work with the faculty and staff to oversee all aspects of the Honors experience from recruitment through graduation. I’m fortunate to lead a unit that fosters the transformational development of talented and dedicated students. In addition to my administrative duties, I teach, advise, and maintain a research program.

Why I Love Working in Honors

The KU Honors program was an important part of my undergraduate education.  I’m thrilled to be able to give back to the program and work with highly motivated and engaged students.

I Can Help With . . .

  • Navigating KU
  • Finding opportunities to challenge and expand your skill set
  • Identifying funding to make those opportunities possible
  • Connecting with Honors alumni
  • Talking through ideas about how to make the Program even better
  • Overcoming red tape
