LAWRENCE — Twenty University of Kansas sophomores have been named University Scholars.

The 2016 University Scholars are listed below by hometown, major, high school and faculty mentor.

Hythem Abouodah:  Overland Park, KS; majoring in biochemistry and chemical engineering; Blue Valley West High School: mentored by Bart Dean, Anthropology.

Kathryn Ammon:  Fort Worth, TX; majoring in history, women's studies, political science with a minor in Spanish; Timber Creek High School; mentored by Elizabeth Kuznesof, History.

Sion Bell:  Laurel, MD; majoring in anthropology (biological/physical); Atholton High School; mentored by Jennifer Raff, Anthropology.
